Standard is a Bucharest-based independent online news magazine, available in Romanian at standard.ro and English at romania.st. The publication focuses on business inovation, professional achievment, and societal changes triggered by technology.
Past
The standard.ro website was founded in 2007, when it served as the online version of the newspaper Business Standard until the demise of the printed edition. It went on since 2010 as a commentary platform about economy and finance, with guests being analysts, economists and professors. In 2019 it switched focus to human resources, management and entrepreneurship, with contributors from amongst consultants, executives and business founders.
Present
In October 2026, standard.ro started to publish professional journalistic articles and the romania.st domain joined in as an English-language mirror. Standard – the umbrella title of both websites – is currently owned and run by journalist Lucian Davidescu and is funded exclusively by properly-disclosed advertising.
Future
If you feel that you may fit here, we're open to bring in new talent, subject to vetting from the existing crew; and whoever published with standard.ro in the past is welcome by default.
